At the start of the 1990s, our Research and Development Department came up with a new concept: the combination of wood and steel which solves several problems:
- using the aesthetic, braking mechanics and damping properties of wood
- reinforcing naturally heterogeneous wood with a steel frame.
The first double-mixed wood & steel guardrail capable of retaining a 13-T bus.
The originality of the operation of this device consists in the superimposition of two rows of half logs:
- when the vehicle is heavy, both rows come into action;
- when the vehicle is lighter, the lower log is most active.
Thanks to a small working width, this guardrail is especially recommended for protecting obstacles on the side of roads, particularly trees.
