In France, AFNOR has defined two standards to regulate the marking of parking spaces:
The NF P91-100 standard for car parks accessible to the public
The NF P91-120 standard for private car parks
These two standards specify the dimensions to be observed for a car park, accessible to the public, for vehicles weighing less than 3.5t and less than 1.90m high on the one hand, and on the other hand the minimum dimensions for private parking spaces.
The dimensions of individual parking spaces are not regulated. Only parking spaces designed and reserved for the disabled are subject to regulations stipulating the number of reserved spaces per tranche of parking spaces, their layout and signage.
